But since I’ve developed a 6th sense about traffic, I consider it my duty to warn the few affiliates who are willing to listen.

First of all, paid methods will continue getting more and more saturated.

When demand exceeds the supply, costs skyrocket.

You can see this on platforms like Flakebook. One out of 4 posts is an ad. Zuckerberg can’t give advertisers more space, since users will be annoyed. So the solution is to increase prices and force most people with small budgets out of the game.

Think you can go with free methods instead?

A study from Ahrefs in 2018 shows it takes 950 days to rank a site on page 1 of Google. Nowadays it’s going to take longer.

And don’t worry, social media platforms have their own way of messing up your free traffic plans.

Last week I got an email from Google.

They’re introducing new rules against advertisers who repeatedly violate ads policies. Later in the email, they say that after three strikes, you’re out.

What’s interesting is this sentence:

“The policy coverage of the strike-based system will be expanded to add additional policies in phases over time”

So even though in the email, they start with guns, substances, and dishonest behavior they’ll eventually branch out to other things.

It could be weight loss like Pinterest or financial stuff like TikTok.

Or they might even pull a Facebook and ban you because an ad repeats the word “you” 2 times!

This reminds me something I’ve been saying for years:

Most paid traffic methods give you zero control.

This sucks because, unlike free alternatives, you can generate clicks and leads fast. When a campaign is running, it’s easy to scale, and become profitable. All the success stories you hear online are thanks to a paid method.
